As you well know, the last few years our world has been on the steep down slope of a roller coaster ride, and not only can we not see the end to this drop but it feels like our seatbelts might be loosening. Americans are barely managing since the pandemic. Businesses have been unstable causing some jobs to disappear over night. Costs have gone up across the board from gas, to groceries, to electricity. Overall, the dollar just doesn't go as far as it used to. No matter how strong the Veteran, they are not immune to these struggles. So today's mission probably won't come as a surprise to you.
Today's mission involved an out of reach electricity bill and Veteran family of 5. Both the husband and wife of this family are Veterans who served in the United States Army; where their story together began. They have 3 kids - two "amazing" boys and their "princess". It breaks our heart to see such a beautiful family facing such a difficult season. Due to some of the aforementioned circumstances this Veteran family fell way behind on their electric bill and ultimately became overwhelmed by debt. The power company was forced to shut off the electricity of this family of 5, in the dead of August. The electric company's response did not happen overnight. This Veteran family had to make some tough choices over the last year and they didn't get them all right. Those decisions landed them with starting this week off with no electricity. However, where there is hardship, there is an opportunity for perseverance. Where there are tough times, there is an opportunity to share a burden. Where there is a Veteran in need, there you were!
It's because of your unwavering support, your sacrifice, and your unwillingness to allow Veterans to go without help this Veteran family of 5 will be going into this weekend with electricity and with air conditioning. THANK YOU!! Thank you for your support. Thank you for your dedication. Thank you for all that you have done!
He's not alone; today, there are *20 million Americans who are not been able to pay their energy bills, with many energy bills tripling over the last 12 months. We expect this will not be the last time we will find a Veteran in need of help like this. Without your continuous support we could not have helped this family. Please, considering making a monthly donation to Service to Nation allowing us to continue these missions of supporting Veterans in need.
